Travel Essentials

So you’ve got that fantastic festival or holiday sorted and booked and you are all ready to go. You pack your things and get there and have two glorious days until your phone battery dies. Not to worry you think, you can just recharge it back at the hotel, only you find that your charger doesn’t work in the foreign plugs. Disaster. Or worse still you arrive back home from your holiday only to find that you have left your charger behind and now need to buy a new one.
One thing that I always do, whenever I buy a new phone or go on holiday, is to make sure that I am carrying a spare charger. Leaving my original at home, just incase I lose it or in case I need a special one to fit a specific kind of plug sockets. A word of warning though, don’t visit a standard phone shop. It is always easier, cheaper and in the long run better to get your Battery Chargers online. Saves yourself a packet.

THE SECRET INGREDIENT

The best cooks are always your Grandma’s in my opinion. I looked forward to my hearty meals of pies, casserole, toad in the hole and steak. Always on the table when you walk in!
However, the other week I discovered why her chicken casserole was the best tasting thing. Not only did it have one secret ingredient, but it had two!
She admitted it was a matter of fumbling around the cupboard to put what ever she thought would taste okay into the pot, but her favourite ingredients was marmite and curry powder!
I was a little shocked. Marmite! I cannot normally stand marmite. Then to top it off curry powder with Bisto gravy! Very strange.
But at the end of the day, when that hearty meal is put in front of me, I will not be turning it down. But I won’t think about how it was made.

TOUGH UNIFORMS

Schools in Manchester seem to be coming down pretty hard on their students who are not following the required dress code these days. My daughter got sent back from her school, Walkden High because of her shoes. They were just plain black pumps with a tiny bit of heel - obviously not tiny enough for the school code!
I have noticed that many other parents have had similar problems lately too. Near about 200 children have been sent back from Walkden High for not meeting the dress code requirements.
The Head teacher Elaine Hilton has also sent a letter outlining Walkden High's approach towards the school uniform along with a copy of the school's policy on personal appearance standards to all parents.
To sum it up, if your kid goes to Walkden High, you might want to take a look at their wardrobe. For the most part, just ensure that they wear their blazers and tie at all times and avoid any kind of jewelery, or expect them home for lunch!

DISCOVERING MANCHESTER

I have always wondered if there what else Manchester has to offer other than football and music. So this summer I decided to take a trip to the city to find out what I could discover!
I ventured into the city centre as soon as I arrived and straight away noticed the architecture. The buildings speak volumes of the city's grandiose past. The Manchester Art Gallery on Mosley Street is something that you cannot miss. It contains the records of all the historic and recent events that have helped shaped the city.
After that, my next stop was at Primrose Gardens. Now I was quite disappointed. It turned out that it was more of a bus stop than a garden. Moving on, I visited the Manchester Craft and Design Center on Oak Street, which is a great place to pick up exquisite jewellery, ceramics, bags, and paintings.(I picked up some ceramics for my home!)
That evening I headed out for a meal and then on to a few bars.Overall, I think Manchester is one of the finest northern cities and does have a lot more to offer than just music and football!
