The best cooks are always your Grandma’s in my opinion. I looked forward to my hearty meals of pies, casserole, toad in the hole and steak. Always on the table when you walk in!
However, the other week I discovered why her chicken casserole was the best tasting thing. Not only did it have one secret ingredient, but it had two!
She admitted it was a matter of fumbling around the cupboard to put what ever she thought would taste okay into the pot, but her favourite ingredients was marmite and curry powder!
I was a little shocked. Marmite! I cannot normally stand marmite. Then to top it off curry powder with Bisto gravy! Very strange.
But at the end of the day, when that hearty meal is put in front of me, I will not be turning it down. But I won’t think about how it was made.
